Bonyx

Bonyx

BONYX™ is a bioactive bone void filler available as porous spherical beads, serving as both:

  • Bone Graft
  • Local Fluid Delivery Scaffold

Why Choose BONYX™ ?

Proven Safety and Efficacy:

Meets international standards for performance

Streamlined Procedures

Simplifies infection management and bone healing

No Second Procedure Required

Eliminates the need for removal or explanation

Biodegradable

Fully absorbed depending on defect size, implantation site, and surrounding bone quality

Key Features

  • Graded Pore Structure: Patented micro-meso-nano sizes for controlled fluid release.
  • Optimal Composition: Synthetic hydroxyapatite and beta tricalcium phosphate (60:40 ratio) ensure bioactivity and resorption.
  • Bead Size: 4–6 mm

Designed for infected bone sites, BONYX™ facilitates initial infection control while integrating with local bone, streamlining surgical procedures and meeting international safety standards.

Indications

BONYX™ is intended for:

  • Filling open bone voids or defects from trauma or surgery (not load-bearing).
  • Use in infected sites as a fluid-carrying scaffold, allowing for controlled infection management and promoting bone remodelling.

How It Works

1. Bone Void Filling:

Designed for open voids in the extremities, spine, and pelvis.
Composed of calcium phosphate bioceramics that integrate and get resorbed over time.

2. Infection Control:

Can be infused with appropriate antibiotics.
Controlled fluid release to the infection site during implantation.

Specific Applications Include:

  • Osteomyelitis
  • Cancellous Bone Augmentation
  • Fluid Elution for Anti-Osteoporosis Treatments
  • Local Chemotherapy for Bone Tumors (especially in the spine)
  • TB of Spine and Related Pyogenic Tumors

Advantages of Calcium Phosphate Over Calcium Sulfate

Extended Fluid Release

Calcium phosphate systems maintain MIC-level antibiotic release for over 2 months, compared to the limited 3 to 8 weeks of calcium sulfate.

Optimal for Bone Healing

Ideal for antibiotic coverage during the 3 to 6 months needed for bone regeneration.

Better Biocompatibility

Calcium phosphate integrates more effectively with bone tissue & provides defect management, promoting healing.

Key Benefits

  • Avoids multi-step procedures for infection control.
  • Facilitates integration with local bone at the defect site.
